Placeholders are little code snippets you can add to various areas on your website in order to automatically display pre-populated content. For instance, anywhere you put an Address placeholder on your website will automatically display your company's address as you put it in the Company section. Also, any time you update the address within the Company section, the Address placeholder will automatically update.
There are many types of content you can display with placeholders. Here are a few popular ones: Website blog, phone numbers, email addresses, biography content, address map, social media links etc. Here's a guide for adding a placeholder:
STEP 1: Log in to your website (if you don't know how to do this, click here). Once in the dashboard, click Edit Site at the top left and navigate your way to the page where you'd like to add a placeholder and click the Edit current tab (or Customize if you've never edited the page before). In this example, we'll add a placeholder for the company address to the Contact page.
STEP 2: Place your cursor wherever you'd like the placeholder inserted within the content. In this case, we are going to create a title called "Office Address" and insert our address placeholder underneath.
STEP 3: Select your desired placeholder from the Select placeholder drop-down. For our example, we want Address. Finally, click OK.
STEP 4: You will now see a placeholder in the desired spot. Click Publish at the top right to make these changes live (or Save and submit to compliance if you're on a compliance workflow).
STEP 5: When you view the actual page now, you'll notice the placeholder area has been populated with your desired content.
The majority of placeholder content comes from information entered in the Content, Company, and Extras tabs. Also note that any time this information is updated, the placeholders will automatically update. Here are examples of some of our most common placeholders:
Biography: This will simply display the biography content from the main advisors biography (accessible via Company > Headshot and Biography in the dashboard).
Blog View (New Page only): This will show your blog post previews typically found on the blog page. This placeholder can only be inserted on a new page.
Disclaimer: This displays your website's disclaimer (content is in the Company > Disclaimer section of the dashboard).
Google Map: This displays a generated Google Map of your company's address (as specified in the Company > Office Location section of the dashboard).
