The title tag of a page on a website is an html element which displays at the top of a browser window. These tags are also read by search engines and sometimes appear as the title of searches.
Title tags are different than the page title which appears in the body of the content, but are an easy element to update for your website's SEO.
You don't necessarily need to update the title tag for every page on your website, but focus on the most important pages people may search for. This is likely Home, About Us and Products and Services (or their equivalents)
Here's how you can update the title tag on your website pages:
STEP 1: Log into your website's dashboard (if you don't know how to do that, click here) and click Edit Site. Navigate to the page you wish to edit the title tag for and click Edit Current (or Customize if it is a page you have never edited before).
STEP 2: Scroll down and choose Page Title Settings. Enter your new title tag in the page title field. Your page title should follow this optimal format: Primary Keyword - Secondary Keyword | Brand Name and should be 55 characters or less (otherwise search engines cannot display the whole title). Once finished click Publish.
Like most elements of SEO, making one change will not instantly boost your website's search engine rankings. Many changes and habits maintained over time is the best way to help your website get noticed.
