How Do I Add an External Link To My Website?

You may want to add a link to your website. This includes links to an external website, a page within your website, a file on your website (including PDF), an email address, and anchor on the current page. Here are the initial steps follow for all link types (refer to the bottom of this page for specific link types):

STEP 1: Log into your website, navigate to the section you'd like to add the link to, and select Edit current. Note: If this section has never been edited, it will say Customize

STEP 2: Find or create the text that you want to be your link. Next, highlight that text. Next, you'll want to click the Link icon above, and input the URL.

Step 3: Once you've added the link hit OK, then hit Publish at the top right corner.

How Do I Add a Link to a Page Within My Site?

*If you have not done so, please feel free to review this tutorial on how to add a basic link before proceeding.*

STEP 1: Find or create the text that you want to be your link. Next, highlight that text and click the Link icon above.

STEP 2: Enter the particular page's URL. This can be found by looking in the address bar when you're on the page.

The unique URL to the page appears after your website's URL. For example, if your website is www.joeyadvisor.comthe URL of your Product page might look something like www.joeyadvisor.com/products. Therefore, the Product page's unique URL is /products. So /products is what you'll enter in the URL field.

The Protocol field will automatically adjust itself accordingly. Finally, click the OK button.

STEP 3: Once you've added the link, hit Publish at the top right corner.

How Do I Add a Link to an Email Address?

Linking an email address to a text (e.g. support@advisorwebsites.com) automatically opens up an email program, such as Windows Mail, so that the viewer can send an email to the specified email address (e.g. support@advisorwebsites.com). This is a great way to enhance the user experience of your site and to eliminate the extra step of having the user leave your site to send an email.

*Please feel free to review this tutorial on how to add a basic link before proceeding.*

STEP 1: Select E-mail in the Link Type drop down. Then, fill in the email address you'd like to link to in the E-Mail Address field. This link will will open a user's email client with this email address as the recipient. Optionally, you can also populate the Message Subject and Message Body field for the email. Finally, hit OK

STEP 2: Once you've added the link, hit Publish at the top right corner.
